Aircell Develops First Inflight Android Phone

Written by Rachid Otsmane-Elhaou. Posted in Android News

This is quite cool news for those of you that fly frequently. Aircell (deliverers of inflight connectivity) have created the “Aircell Smartphone Cabin” handset for business use in the air.

The phone allows passengers to place and receive calls in the air just as a normal mobile phone would work. What makes this phone unique is that it runs android! Bringing lots more multimedia features than was available in previous handsets designed for using while flying.

The phone has a large 3.8″ capacitive screen, as well as number keys for quick typing (making it a rather odd shape I must say). It should be available sometime later this year.
