Android Daily Dose: Friday Feb 11

I love android, you love android, everyone loves android! Because we love it so much we want to keep up to date with all the latest news about that cute little green guy. There are plenty of android news blogs too, lots of places to get your news from. The one problem is that sometimes there might just be too much news (using the word news lightly here). Wouldn't it be great if there was some way to filter out all the non-news that no one cares about? Well, now there is!

Welcome to the new daily incubment at Droid Den, the Android Daily Dose! A roundup of the most interesting android stories of the day, with all the guff nowhere in sight! Phones, tablets, apps, games, anything android, newsworthy and interesting. Because we all need our daily dose of green right? :)

1. Twitter For Android Update

The twitter for android update brings the following:

  1. Easier navigation and layout
  2. Scan your contacts to find friends that are on twitter (under search screen)
  3. Universal search
  4. Autocomplete @usernames while tweeting
  5. Easier photo uploading
  6. Faster tweet actions (reply, retweet, follow, etc.)

I don't know about you, but for me it's got some way to go to get anywhere near the features available on 3rd party apps... *cough*twicca*cough*

7. Galaxy S2, Desire HD2, Desire 2, Wildfire 2 Specs Leaked

Specs apparently leaked by Expansys, however Expansys have been quoted as saying:

"the alleged leaks of information are nothing more than speculatively populated product holding pages, created and designed for internal use only...we do not have full details of the specific products mentioned."

So who knows, they at least look likethey could be real.

8. iControlPad Pre-Order For Some Androids

Gives your phone a cool control pad interface, like what you'd expect on the Xperia Play.  It's not cheap at £46/£75 though, and it only works on the Motorola Backflip, LG Optimus S, LG Ally, HTC Dream, G1 and the Samsung Intercept. Not the most common selection of android phones I have to say..

9. Google Authenticator App

This provides 2-step account security for your gmail account. Basically you get sent a code to your phone which you use to log in with alongside your password. Might be worth using,  when you cosider just how much information is associated with your google account.
